In Germany it is not that easy to get some kind of mechanical keyboard if you don’t want a keyboard with ANSI Layout. So here is my little story about my newest addition to my keyboard collection.
A few years ago I had a keyboard that was perfectly fine. Until it wasn’t. It was the Logitech G910 Orion Spectrum. A mechanical gaming keyboard. For me it was perfect. The switches were fine for my kind of gaming and I had it for three years I guess. One day, the middle of the keyboard stopped working. I guess it was some kind of PCB error and it couldn’t be fixed by me and I guess it would have been pretty expensive to get it fixed.
Because the G910 Orion Spectrum was quite expensive in general – I only got it because it was on a 50% discount – I decided I would buy the Logitech G213 Prodigy. It was cheap but not mechanical. I didn’t like it as much as the G910 but it served the job.
Last year I moved in a new apartment and I decided to sell my gaming PC, so I didn’t have a need for a keyboard like that. I bought a M1 MacBook Air and used it most of the time as it was. But after some time I more and more used it docked to my desk and I needed a keyboard again. So I bought the Logitech MX Keys S. When it arrived I thought: this is the keyboard I wanted all the time. Even though it wasn’t mechanical. I loved and used it until its sudden death.
You need to know something: I have a cat. And one day when I was in the bathtub, the little guy decided to puke straight on the keyboard. I didn’t notice it at first and when I saw it, it was too late. Too much liquid already got inside and you could see the damaged PCD with the naked eye.
In the meantime I got a M4 Mac mini, so my keyboard needs were still there. But this time, I wanted a keyboard that fits me perfect.
In the interim I used my old Logitech K380, which is okay. But I normally use it with my Steam Deck and I didn’t want to switch places with it all the time. My best friend got me a Magic Keyboard from Apple for free and this was my worst keyboard experience of all time. However, I am very grateful to him for that.
On October 11, 2025, the Mechanicon took place. I got myself a ticket and wanted to go there to finally find my perfect keyboard. Due to certain circumstances, I was unable to attend after all. But my best friend was there and sent me photos of a keyboard I fell in love with on the first sight: the NuPhy Air 75 V3.

Long story short: I bought it in black, ISO-DE layout with Gateron Brown Nano switches. This thing is amazing. It combines anything I want with a keyboard: it is low-profile, it has ISO-DE layout, it has keycaps for Mac and it has a switchable knob.
I nearly bought the Bridge75 keyboard, but to me it had a flaw I could never live with: no keycaps for Mac.
And now I’m here. Sitting on my desk with my brand new NuPhy Air 75 V3 and I couldn’t be happier. It was some kind of a ride but I’ve finally arrived.
Just to mention it, if you’re sitting in Germany and looking for a mechanical keyboard, there are two super vendors: MonacoKeys and CandyKeys.
